Langdon is staying at the Ritz, Paris in a ‘plush Renaissance bedroom with Louis XVI furniture, hand-frescoed walls, and a colossal mahogany four-poster bed’.
The Ritz can be found at 15, Place Vendème, and online at www.ritzparis.com
The luxury hotel was founded by Cesar Ritz in Paris in 1898. The Place Vendome began its history in 1686. In 1705 a mansion was built at number 15, which became the home of the Duchesse de Gramont, Marshal de Lautrec, the Marquis de Vilette. In 1896 Cesar Ritz’s Ritz Hotel Syndicate bought the mansion. In 1940 the Ritz was occupied by high-ranking officials of the German Government. In 1944 Ernest Hemingway ‘liberated’ the Ritz. In 1956 Charles Ritz created the Espadon restaurant. In 1979 Mohamed Al Fayed and his family purchased the hotel. See the site for more details on the history of the Ritz.
